FCPS, introduction to part two
Practice makes the man perfect. Its a phrase we have been listening since childhood and it is a known reality. Whatever the field it is, it requires practice leading to improvement and finally near to perfection. In my point of view attaining full perfection is not a perfect thought because there is always a room of improvement present and that is the reason which keeps man active and advancing to new thoughts, techniques, ways and means.
Like all fields medicine is also a combination of practice with expertise on the available solutions and procedures with a horizon for innovations. After you have cleared your FCPS part one you get eligible for the training program in the respective field. It is a time period with a tough routine, facing challenges on daily basis but learning each moment. If the time period is judiciously spent with an spirit of learning, taking challenges and availing opportunities then it will make the practical life easier with more competent and professional approach.
The biggest barrier between the training and entrance in practical life is the part two exam. It has been designed in the manner which may be tough, practical and somewhat nerve breaking to deal with such situations of daily life i guess. Many candidates have various issues with the exam system while appearing and those who get through the exam forget about the issues; an excellent example of the phrase, all is well that ends well. However the issues of system remains there with the students which do not get successful and the same goes on. Whatever the system or the issues are, we have to be prepared at our best and well above the average passing line so that these issues may affect us least.
However still if u cannot make through, its no point to be discouraged, you have this just gather all the energies, work on flaws you know and u observed during exam.Discuss the short-comings with your mentors and the healthy criticism in your work should always be taken as positive and source of betterment. After having done your all efforts avail the up-coming chance with all positive hopes.
This exam constitutes of theoretical as well as practical component. The theory can be in form of multiple choice questions, short and long questions or including certain percentages of both the patterns. Practical component included long and short cases with interaction with examiner and some sort of other practical spots with questions, diagnosis or relevant questions.
The key to success is not the studies done for exam in last days rather it is an exam of the knowledge and practice you did in the training time period so the success is hidden in honest and hard work.
During the training tenure it is also necessary to be in touch with book. Whatever patient, procedure or diagnostic material you have come across go through the book and highlight the important points. After the same case has been opened twice or more times you will gain adequate knowledge about it and it will prove as a magic in the final preparation of exam.
Management of time is an important thing to learn. Many candidates have the issues that examiners test our nerves more than our knowledge but it is critical because in medicine one can face the nerve breaking short time challenges that make us realize about the effectiveness of practice of stress related response and decisions. Finally the confidence in yourself, you can do it, and your knowledge will boost your morale and performance as well, leading to your success.
